Trepidation

So much pressure for a little baby!

the sweetest thing

It is so nice how Caelan truly picks me over others because I am his mama. Its a feeling that I don't think could be replaced by anything else in the world. Yesterday, he was crawling around upstairs and he took a wrong step and face dived into the floor. It wasn't bad, just a bump but it surprised him and he started crying. He immediately crawled over to me, stood up, and put his little arms around my neck. I was instantly sold. He didn't go to my mom, who was right there who spend a lot more time with him that I do. He came to me because I am his mama and he needed me to make sure everything was going to be ok. It might be selfish to relish this moment so much but I realize these are the moments in life that count, that make everything else worth it. I love my son and I love you.

Hopefully it works today:

And a little something for you

Something funny I saw at the store for you:

Go-to Heidelberg

Yesterday we took Christina to Heidelberg aaaaall day. It was nice because we didn't rush in the morning to get out the door. I didn't wake up until the baby woke up. On to breakfast at the Barbarossa and then I drove to Heidelberg. The GPS made me kind of nervous because it would get all confused all of a sudden on the Autobahn but then it would be fine. Not sure what was going on. We did the castle thing BUT it was a nice day so we went on the grass in front of the sexy Zeus fountain and let him crawl around. He was so happy! It was funny because he was grabbing at the grass and tearing it out and crawling towards all the leaves on the ground. His pants got so dirty! Good thing we had brought a change of clothes for him. Then we went down to the Bier Brezel (yum, yum) and had lunch and we ordered Christina a jagerschnitzel and bratkartofflen which she thoroughly enjoyed. We looked around at the shops and eventually went home. The neighbors were kind enough to take Princess Zoe out while we were gone as we didn't come home until almost 10. Anywho, here are some pics!

rain rain go away

It has been super rainy lately and just overall muggy. Tonight was no different. We decided to venture out to Burg Nanstein Jazz Fest. It started at 8 but we thought, "Bah, Caelan loves partying." Well, we got there and Christina loved the view. The sooped up the outside area really nice. There was some metrosexual dude serving homosexual drinks and, of course, your beer guy. The baby was in the stroller so I went to go in the castle to see what the situation was. So yea, turns out that the price was 22 euro oh and yea that was per person. So we didn't go in. For the trip to not be entirely wasted we decided to sit down and have something to drink(On another note, I hate being the only driver now) and then it started to rain...fabulous. We had our drinks (I had a cappuccino, don't judge me) and by that time the rain stopped. Now we came home and I see I missed your skype message, sucks. But don't feel too bad for me. Now we are watching Chicage and drinking Parisian champagne. :)

ok ok here it is

Ok unfortunately I have to start this one off with some bad news...Wolfgang called and said he didn't get the rent so I am thinking we (meaning I) prolly fudged the numbers with the exchange rates soooo we only have 814 in the SCU soooo we have to come up with 1421...pretty sweet. Good thing you ain't spending no monies, right?! yea I'll set it to .67 for now, exchange rate has been going from .68 to .69 lately...i did hear some good news! I was reading the lates Star magazine (someone left it in the lobby, don't judge me!) and it seems Tim Burton is doing a remake of Alice in Wonderland and Johnny Depp is going to be the Mad Hatter! I hope someone will want to watch with me if it comes out before you come back...still no takers for being my date to Harry Potter :( man, am so lame....

funny occurences

Today I spent almost all day at the vegetable market/BX/commissary, you can just imagine how much fun that ended up being. We bought all the week's vegetables at the little vegetable market in Weilerback out by the Baeckerei. It was pretty cheap besides the fact that the exchange just keeps dropping..sucks. I know all that stuff is grown locally so I am doing my part to dimish our carbon footprint. Iknow you are so proud of me, babe. (lol) Then on to the BX to buy the GPS. It ended up being $395. I didn't buy the top of the line one cause it just had bluetooth, voice recognition, and landmark view; these are all features I felt were not worth shelling over another 100 buckaroos. Two funny things I saw: first, a guy wearing the funniest shirt I have seen in a long time. The top said: DaVinci Cod and then it had a picture of Mona Lisa holding a fish. So random. Second, we were eating at the food court and there was a guy with a camouflage hat with bud light bottle caps decorating the whole bill. Like, he had taken the time out of his life to fold the bottle caps around his hat and then worn this in public. Pretty awesome.

I guess you are out in field training since I have not heard from you. We were waiting last night for your Skype call. Caelan stayed up until 10 but then he was way too tired so I had to put him to bed. I wake up to no messages. This sucks. I hope I hear from you soon. I was so bored last night. My mom was watching the Goonies which I HATE. The only good part now is that the little Asian kid kinda looks like Al which cracks me up.

Oh, next weekend we are going on a USO tour to this place called Lucerne in Switzerland. Should be pretty fun. It's just a day thing. And then the day after!!!! Our baby is one year old!!!! I am making him a cake and I am going to plant it in front of him and just let him go at it. Of course, I will take lots of pictures, probably a cake.

Hope to hear from you soon. I love you.

Noob

So I got an email from My English teacher today. Something to the tune of: "Yea, it was really cute how you tried to turn in an entire essay citing the wrong author the entire time...um, and by cute I mean dumb, so try again." So yea, I got to feel really special as I proofread my essay and changed the the name of the author whose essay I am arguing against. I cited it just about, oh, only twenty times. Pretty awesome. But at least she is letting me fix it before she grades it. And another thing, she nixed my Holocaust denial idea for an essay. She said it was too broad so am thinking of doing it on Apocalypto and how peeps think that it makes Mayans seem violent. Dunno, if people came and raped and plundered my village I would be pretty mad too but at the same time how are the crops going to grow back if humans aren't sacrificed to the sun god? Quite a conundrum, if you ask me. More to come on this...

and you're gone

yep, woke up waay to early after getting almost no sleep to meet you at the airport. I've been sad but not break down sad. I cried when you left and after walking away from the gate but mostly now I feel a void or like chronic sadness. This sucks. I know it will get better but still...Isaw your stupid house loafers that you hate and they made me cry cause then I thought we should wash them and put them away. I already have things to tell you like I can't believe I actually got lost coming back from Frankfurt! I stayed on the 60 too long and didn't notice until I saw signs for Ruedesheim am Rhine...d'oh! So what? We took the extra long way and looking at beautiful German countryside made us all feel better, especially Calean who fell asleep. Thess sent me an email saying she got you some doobies but forgot to give them to you yesterday. I'll send them to you once you get to the desert. Not looking forward to his weekend besides that I get to wake Caelan up. We might have a goal day so was thinking of doing something like maybe Bostalsee or Koeln or Frankfurt. We'll see. Definitely getting a GPS this weekend and stashing away so no tricksies can steal it this time. I added some pics from today. I hope you have a nice flight and saw a good movie...transformers maybe? lol I love you.

It is upon us...

It's here...well, almost here and while I still feel that the certainty of your absence is still not apparent to me, it is looming over my head. Kind of like the big grey clouds that have been around for the past week or so. So it is Sunday and you leave on Tuesday, still making last minute plans, still running around trying to get stuff done when you should just be at home not worrying about those things because they are already done...ggrrr. You already know my feelings on the obvious failure of your UDM. Anywho, I am posting some pics of us over some years to include our very first family portrait. I love you.
